When the Masculine Birthday Card Really Matters

My husband is a manly outdoor kind of guy. He has worked in the woods most of his life, the trees, mountains, rivers and lakes represent his happy place. With this in mind I knew the perfect stamp set and dies to create this Birthday card for him as we celebrate the man I love dearly. The Mountain Air Photopolymer Stamp Set and Majestic Mountain Dies are perfect for creating cards or scrapbook layouts for those rugged outdoor loving people in your life. What makes these stamps great is they are designed to use BOTH sides of the stamp.

Mountain Air Stamp Set and Majestic Mountains Dies make a great masculine birthday card

Card Recipe:

• Sahara Sand Cardbase 4 1/4″ x 11″ score at 5 1/2″
• Use the smooth side of the mountain stamp first, stamp off and then onto your card front
• Flip the stamp over and use the textured side to place an offset row of mountains
• Stamp the tree images onto scrap Sahara Sand using Garden Green Ink and die cut
• Die cut the detailed tree using Garden Green Cardstock
• Using paper tearing technique, tear the right edge off a 1 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ strip of Night of Navy, repeat with Plaid DSP 1 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and the woodgrain from In Good Taste Designer Series Paper.
• Adhere the torn paper strips together and then onto the left side of the card base. Adhere the detailed tree die cut to the cardbase, positioning as desired. Pop the stamped and die cut trees up on dimentionals
• Stamp your choice of sentiments onto Sahara Sand Cardstock in Night of Navy Ink, trim and use the Triple Banner Punch to one end.
• Use scraps of the woodgrain DSP and Night of Navy Cardstock to add visual interest at the bottom of the tree line.
• Wrap Crumb Cake Bakers Twine vertically over the woodgrain DSP several times and then tie a knot.

Sweet Talk Valentine’s Card

Valentine’s and Conversation hearts go hand in hand, reminiscent of childhood sharing and caring for our classmates, friends and family. Valentines Day has become so commercialized that it is easy to forget the warm feeling we had from a simple card and sentiment.

What better way to express your feelings than a handmade card? The thought and effort is heartwarming and the sweet sentiment says it all!

Awesome Otters a Sale a-bration Exclusive!

Who loves to get birthday cards? I know I sure do, it sends a message that someone is thinking of you and what a gift that is!

Now I used Misty Moonlight 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”, scored at 4 1/4” for the cardbase.

Next ran the Balmy Blue 4” x 5 1/4” layer through the Cut & Emboss machine using the Bark Embossing Folder.

Added a 2” x 4” strip of the Simply Marbleous 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper and die cut a label using the Hippo & Friends Dies.

I stamped the Otter with Tuxedo Momento Black Ink (dye based ink is best when using alcohol markers to color images) and colored this guy with Light & Dark Crumb Cake Stampin Blends, the water with Light & Dark Balmy Blue Stampin Blends and the party hat inside with Light Granny Apple Green and Light Daffodil Delight Stampin Blends.

I took a scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock and stamped the sentiment, popped both the otter and the sentiment up with dimensionals. The finishing touch, added Opal Rounds for that water droplet effect.

Start with a standard card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ score at 4 1/4″ in Misty Moonlight cardstock

Layer in Mango Melody 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″

DSP layer is 3″ x 4″

Sentiment is from Peaceful Moments stamp set, stamped in Misty Moonlight ink and die cut using the Stitched So Sweetly dies.

Adhere the DSP to the Mango Melody layer.

Wrap the 1/4″ Misty Moonlight Cotton Ribbon around one end and tie a bow. Add a glue dot under the bow to hold in place.

Add dimentionals and pop up the layers onto the cardbase.

Add the sentiment label with dimentionals.

Stamp the inside white layer with Misty Moonlight using the Amazing Silhouettes butterfly stamp.

Christmas Traditions

Do you have any Christmas or Holiday traditions? One tradition I have allowed to get away was sending out Christmas cards. Life has been quite hectic, I work full time as well as have a family, kept the books for our trucking business as well as active in our scout troop. I have great intentions but fall short because I start too late. Well this year I am determined to fix that, even if they arrive late!

Paper pumpkin November 2019 alternates

In a short amount of time with minimal extra supplies I cranked out 12 cards and still have enough pieces to make 12 more!

My point is to just do it, grab those old kits or abandons projects and make a few or a lot and pop them in the mail. I feel better and I bet you will too.

Tuesday Tip with StampinTammy Featuring Blender Pens

Blender Pens are often overlooked and most certainly underutilized in our stamping arsenal. These little gems are perfect for pulling a bit of color into a line art stamped image, softening the stamped lines or adding a deeper pop of color by gently touching just the tip to the ink pad and then filling the image in. It really is that simple!

More Christmas Gift Card and Treat Holders

Christmas is right around the corner and I am not ready! We have the outside lights up but no tree, inside decor and nothing wrapped….. Thankfully these quick gift card and treat holders will help!

Both the envelope fold gift holder and diaper fold treat holder start with a piece of 6″x6″ DSP, require no measuring or cutting, just fold!

For the second gift card holder start with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ cardbase, score at 1 1/2″ and 5 1/2″, fold the 1 1/2″ flap under and secure along the short edges to form a shallow pocket. Add a 4″ x 4″ piece of DSP to the front and decorate as desired.

Tag Topper Gift Tags

Today is December 1st, Christmas is around the corner and the clock is ticking faster than ever! Every year I say I want to make my gift packaging extra special, and every year I wait too long to get it done! This year I am making easy gift tags that take just a few minutes to assemble and my dream may very well become a reality!!

Aren’t these just cute!! Using the Fancy Tag Topper Punch a 2″ wide strip of cardstock, a stamp set, heat embossing and a few die cut as well as fussy cut images out of the Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Designer Series Paper, dimensionals add a piece of ribbon, linen thread, jute or even yarn and you have yourself these oh so cute gift tags!

How to create a custom sized gift box – just in time for Black Friday

It is just math, how hard can it be? Ugh….am I right? Math can be so challenging and crafting is supposed to be fun! well Donna Griffith from the Stampin’ Up! Home office created this simple to use formula on a YouTube video a few years ago and it is a game changer for me!

Whimsy & Wonder DSP Meets Evergeen Punch

The Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Designer Series Paper is so beautiful it is a star all on its own, but I had to take it up a notch by adding the Evergreen Border Punch trees embossed using the Evergreen 3D Embossing Folder for more WOW factor. This card may look complicated but it is relatively easy!
